Recovery Technician (Eye Bank)
Make a difference in the lives of others by helping give the gift of sight!VisionGift is a non-profit organization founded in 1975 by Lions Clubs of Oregon, which recognized the need for an eye bank to provide ocular tissue for transplants, research and medical education.
Since its inception, over 65,000 people have received the gift of sight from tissue procured and screened by VisionGift, which works closely with transplant surgeons.
Additionally, ocular tissues have been utilized for valuable research projects and surgical training.

VisionGift is currently offering a challenging and rewarding Recovery Technician position at our Portland location.
This position is primarily responsible for recovering human eye tissue from post-mortem donors for transplant, research and educational purposes.
Examples of responsibilities include:
Coordinating tissue recoveries with Donor Referral Line staff; Post-mortem removal of human donor eye tissue for transplant, research, and medical education purposes according to Standard Operating Procedures; Surgical tissue preservation; Laboratory and supply tasks; Assistance in training and onboarding new technicians; Other duties as assigned.
In-house training is provided.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience or course work in biological sciences, allied health, or medical technology.
Overnight position every other Wednesday and Thursday-Saturday 1800-0600.
Hourly rate is $20/hr plus shift differential.
This position comes with a cell phone stipend.
Bonus pay is awarded to exemplary staff.
Requirements Must be detail-oriented and able to follow directives and work independently.
Have a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record and reliable, insured vehicle.
Some travel outside the Portland metro area (within a reasonable driving distance) may be required.
